How is your garden?

St. Paiisius used to raise the following question to his visitors: How is your garden?

And he used to clarify the question saying:
If the Lord dwells in your heart, your soul will flourish and blossom and its flowers will be sweet- smelling.

But if things are otherwise, he would ask them to open up and confess to let the light of the Lord come in order to have fruitful souls.
