Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox received the Mufti of Tripoli, Sheikh Mohammad Tarek Imam, and the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Bakkar Zakaria, and member of the Supreme Islamic Legal Council Sheikh Fayez Saif, who were delegated by His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, at the Patriarchal residence in Balamand.

Their Eminences conveyed the condolences of the Grand Mufti to His Beatitude for the martyrs of St. Elias Church in Douweila. They also expressed, in his name, a strong condemnation of such acts against human life, which is honored by all religions.

His Beatitude thanked their Eminences for Dar al-Fatwa’s solidarity with the Antiochian Church, emphasizing its national role. He requested that his greetings be conveyed to the Grand Mufti.

The meeting also addressed the urgent need to strengthen a spirit of open and tolerant religious discourse in a time when sectarianism is invading social media platforms.
